Testing Out ScribeFire

July 8th, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

My new biz dev person (more on them later) recommended that I try out ScribeFire. I had installed it on my laptop as a plugin to FireFox 3.0. The buzz has been positive. I can’t wait to try out all the features including installing video, images and more.

This is just the first post, so stay tuned.

The Feed Grinder continues…

June 24th, 2008

This time, I discovered Feed Informer, which also combines multiple feeds into one. Feed Informer has many options for display including, RSS, PDF, Flash, a Picture and more. The output for HTML via JavaScript was cleaner than that of Yahoo! Pipes.

Here is an example of my digest (from this blog and nextSTEPH) in Flash:

We’ll have to see what else develops.

Rediscovering Yahoo Pipes

June 14th, 2008

A few weeks ago, a client began their second blog. I previously created a iGoogle Widget for them, and in the widget, there is tab for ‘Blog’. Since there is only one field for the RSS field, what’s a blogger to do? Mash the feeds into one. Yahoo Pipes enables your d to do just that. With a Yahoo! account, one can login to Yahoo Pipes and combine multiple feeds into one feed. An example of this is below.

Pipes also added a Getting Started video demo called “Learn How to Build a Pipe in Just a Few Minutes“.

Happy Piping.

Make your WordPress blog searchable

June 3rd, 2008

For the past few weeks, we have been talking about how to make a blog search able to the search engines. Today we are going to talk about how to do that via WordPress.

For WordPress.com hosted blogs, they ask you if you want your blog to be search able from the beginning.

If you missed it during signup, no fear.

WordPress.com option

  1. Login to your hosted Wordpress account.
  2. Click on the “Settings” tab
  3. Click on the “Privacy” link.

However, if you have WordPress on your own webhosting, you can also follow the same steps above.

Thanks to Stephanie Fierman of Stephanie Fierman Marketing Daily for bringing this to my attention.

Letting search engines know about your TypePad blog.

May 27th, 2008

Last week, I discussed how to let search engines know about your Blogger Blog. Today, I’m going to expand upon how to let search engines know about your TypePad blog.

TypePad Search Engine Option

  1. Login to your TypePad account
  2. Click on the blog you want to work with
  3. Click on the “Configure” Tab
  4. Click on “Publicity” sub-tab
  5. Then, you should be able to select if you want your blog to be publicized by the Search Engines or not by selecting “Yes” or “No”.
  6. You should also be able to choose which search services you want to be notified when you update your blog.
